"It is not about having ideas – it is about making ideas happen". That was the motto of David Engan when he founded Protex AS in 1961. More than five decades after and several hundred employees later David visits all sites on regular basis to make sure that we still live and breath the motto of making Protex and our customers ideas happen. In other words, making things happen is in our DNA.
Protex has a long history of successful change and innovation, adapting to shifts in markets and technologies.
Protex history dates back to 1966, when then the 24 year young and eager entrepreneur David Engan became owner of a small firm named Trønderplast in Alen village, Norway.
David's motto has always been "It is not about having ideas – it is about making ideas happen". Suitable to given nature and the surrounding mountains of North-Western Norway, the company started to produce outdoor wear and tents. Through strong entrepreneurial drive and determination David made his ideas happen and three decades later the small family company had a big circle of loyal customers, more than 50 employees and had changed the name to Protex.
In 2002, after almost four decades of "making ideas happen" in Protex, David gave place for a new generation as he wrote over his company to his daughters Margrethe, Marie and Gunhild. Even though David has left his active role in Protex, he still visits all Protex sites on regular basis to make sure that we still live and breath the motto of making Protex and our customers ideas happen.
Today Protex is a trusted textile service provider to the Scandinavian market and is still managed within the Engan family.
